UCSF Medical Center Chiller Replacement

Lead mechanical engineer and energy consultant for a multi-phased project to replace the Hospital chillers. The project includes a new 600-ton replacement chiller and improvements on system temperature differential and energy efficiency. The space constraints and the complexity of the existing piping required the use of full 3D design of the existing and new layouts to ensure a smooth, clash free transition of the critical system. The highlight of the design is the detailed 4 Steps approach of the design to ensure a close to null down-time of the system without the use of expensive temporary cooling equipment.
